PUREST: THE FUSION OF ITALIAN DESIGN, NEPALESE TRADITIONS & CRAFTSMANSHIP & SWISS PRECISION!

There are times when the name of a Brand captures its essence and raison d'être....this is just one of those occasions.

PUREST was set up in 2011 by Italo-Swiss entrepreneur Patrick L. Garbini after he returned to Switzerland having spent several months travelling through and discovering the long lost villages in Nepal where ancient techniques and looms were still being used to produce the most exquisite cashmere fabrics which most European and Western consumers had never dreamed of let alone seen or felt.  He discovered that one of the secrets to such wonderful fabrics aside from the looms and craftsmanship was also the superior quality of the raw cashmere wool being used, which made its way all the way from Inner Mongolia!

Patrick was so enthralled by this discovery he left his job as a senior manager in a large telecoms company in Switzerland and invested his life savings and every ounce of time and energy he had to developing the idea that these techniques could be used to produce high end luxury products with a fabulous Italian design, whilst also ensuring social and environmental sustainability  - in a nutshell what Patrick has once described as 'Slow Food' applied to fashion.

Having overcome the logistical problems (not to mention the language barriers!) Patrick pulled together all the pieces by convincing several key players to join the team from  STUDIO DA POZZO for the corporate identity, and the WINWOOD SHOWROOM in Milan to the fabulous minds behind Purest's innovative packaging BRANDART - leaders in the image packing sector, and this year finally launched the PRICELESS COLLECTION.

The PUREST Priceless Collection is a stunning collection of cashmere shawls and scarves for men, women and children.  The collection has been split into 4 different sets each characterised by their own incredible peculiarities.  Each shawl can take 4 hours to produce on authentic antique looms.   Only environmentally and skin friendly(AZO free) dyes are used to ensure these priceless yarns  used to produce the finest fabrics, retain their incredible suppleness and 'purity'. Such is Purest's attention to every single detail that each scarf is individually checked and numbered guaranteeing that only the very best shawls and scarves reach their clients!
The Spices Set

A unisex collection, the Spices Set draws its inspiration from the colours of the herbs, roots and seed the local famers bring to the Asan market in Kathmandu.  Shades of sesame, cinnamon, paprika and curry powder alternate quite harmoniously in lightweight stoles and shawls.  One of the most distinctive piece of this set is with out doubt the ring-shawl.  Measuring 70 x 210 cm  thanks to its supple and ethereal feel can be slid through a tiny ring despite its dimensions! Made by complex interweaving of warp and weft threads the incredible details of these shawls are only visible against the light!

The Design Set

A collection with the whole family in mind, with scarves and shawls for men, women and children the yarns are woven in different fineness and weaves, from twill, plain and basket to the more classic diamond, still retaining their incredible suppleness and 'purity'.

The hand-made finishing of the stitches, scarves trims and top-stitched ribs, the fringe inserts and the intriguing combinations of patterns that make up this set, give it a markedly contemporary style mixed with a strong craftsmanship identity where the finishes performed by expert hands are evidence of quintessential Italian tailoring.

In addition to the more natural colours such as brown and white, the colours of this collection are bold and striking from: fuschia, teal blue, emerald green to orange and yellow cadmium.

The Colour Set

A collection of middleweight to lightweight shawls which span the entire chromatic scale from light to dark, including the 'acid set' with bold, contrasting colours in line with the fashion trends. The shawls in this set are decorated with a pattern which is woven into the warp using a thicker and fluffier thread along the selvage of the fabric.

The Natural Set

Patrick has described this set as "the real soul of PUREST".  The set consists of a selection of scarves and shawls in the ring-shawl proportions and weights where by weaving the yarns twisted with the best fibres in their natural colours (ecru, beige, dark brown, shades of white and grey) so untouched by any form of dye, the fabrics reach the utmost in softness and smoothness.  Add to this the ancient technique of massaging of the stole before pressing and after washing weaving etc and what we have is a shawl of undescribable purity and softness to the touch.

Purest is the result of endless energies spent in search of the finest cashmere and ancient traditions and techniques in far away lands; scouring all over the planet for spare parts for looms which not being brought back to life would meant an end to this type of exquisite weaving; trying and testing all possible weave consistencies and dyes to ensure only the best received the Purest stamp of approval; bringing together two very different cultures 'Made in Nepal' with 'Designed in Italy' and turning them into one perfect entity.

Judging from the end result we would suggest Purest has met and outstripped all its objectives!
